Christian Values Education Teacher

Teacher required for Christian Values Education in Rural and Remote Public Schools in WA. This initiative is run in partnership with YouthCARE and Gospelair mission of the Wheatbelt Christian Fellowship.

1FTE role with consideration given to shared role subject to availability, and mutual agreement. Voluntary and/or Paid employment contract positions will be considered.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

CVE Teachers provide Christian Values Education to children in state primary schools. This advertised position is based within the Murchison region of WA with potential for future expansion to other areas.

This requires a passion for working with children K-6 delivering provided lessons. This will involve some time spent in preparation of lessons, crafts and other resources using your own creativity. This role encompasses teaching and demonstrating Christian Values while representing YouthCARE and Gospelair.

All equipment and resources provided are to be maintained in good condition.

An ability and willingness to travel throughout the region, either by vehicle or light aircraft is a necessity.Coordination with school principals is required in relation to the dates and times of lessons, transfers to and from airfields and accommodation. Flexibility is also required as lesson times may change.

Communication skills are essential as the successful candidate(s) will work with a team of supporters. Confidence in using technology is an advantage.

Schools are currently provided service each school term during weeks 3,5,7,9 covering 5 schools, 10 classes and up to 140 children in any week. Regular reports to be submitted for church and local newsletters providing updates of the work to supporters.

Oversight is provided by YouthCARE and Wheatbelt Christian Fellowship, an outreach of the Christian Reformed Church of Willetton and Classis WA of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Be an active member in good standing in a Christian church (references will be required).
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to a Christian and Biblical worldview in teaching practices, passionate about sharing christian values with children.
  • Demonstrate evidence of ability and passion for children with experience in teaching of some sort. (Teacher, Kids Church, CVE or similar).
  • Demonstrated communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to keep confidential any matters that arise in the staff room and classroom.
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children card and NCCHC Police Clearance.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Friendly and open character.
  • High level of energy and vitality.
  • Ability to show empathy, enthusiasm, care and compassion.
  • Be aware or ready to learn of cultural concerns in Aboriginal communities.
