Graduate Accountant

YouthCARE is a Christian Organisation who is the leading provider of pastoral care services in state schools across Western Australia.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Graduate Accountant will be responsible for various reporting requirements and maintenance of accounts.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting Assistance
    • Monthly general ledger accounts reconciliation and journal preparation
    • Assistance in the preparation and audit of Special Purpose Financial Statements
    • Assistance in Budget preparation
  • Accounts Receivable Management
    • Service costings, customer order forms, invoices and credit notes
    • Donations and contributions for service
    • Worker’s Compensation claims
    • Accounts Receivable outstanding balances
  • Accounts Management
    • Preparation, reconciliation and monthly financial reports
    • Attending to queries, transfers and journals
    • Contact management and bank registry
    • Acquittal costings 
  • Fleet Management
    • Documentation including purchase orders, invoices, beacon registry and database
    •  Fleet management include trade schedules, odometer readings and liaising with fleet manager
    • Monitors odometer readings and coordination with fleet manager
    • Manages insurance claims, servicing and maintenance 
  • Alternate Duties – in the absence of staff
    • Preparation of payroll
    • Management of Accounts Payable, credit cards and donations
    • BAS and Bank Reconciliations
    • Petty Cash Custodian

General 

  • Comply with YouthCARE’s policies and guidelines and work within YouthCARE’s practice
  • Comply with YouthCARE’s occupational safety and health requirements including:
    • Working in a safe manner; and ensuring your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, volunteers and visitors
    • Reporting any occupational and health issue - hazards, incidents and accidents promptly
    • Promoting a positive safety culture by demonstrating a positive commitment to occupational health and safety
    • Contributes to the development and improvement of the performance of the organisation
  • Undertake other duties as required

Selection Criteria

  • Degree in relevant field - accounting or finance related
  • Relevant work experience
  • Experience using accounting software packages
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel eg. pivot tables, v-lookups, "if" functions
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Developed time management skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Able to support the Christian Mission and Vision of YouthCARE.
