20 years of chaplaincy support in Nedlands

For over 20 years the City of Nedlands has been supporting YouthCARE chaplaincy services in providing essential pastoral care for school communities in the local area.

This year the City’s donation of over $12,000 is going towards YouthCARE services at Shenton College and Swanbourne Primary School, collectively supporting over 2,600 students and 300 staff.

A thank you morning tea was held at Shenton College this week to acknowledge the generous support of the City and was attended by the City of Nedlands Mayor Cilla de Lacy, Shenton College staff and YouthCARE staff and volunteers.

Mayor Cilla de Lacy said, “Supporting the services of a YouthCARE School Chaplain at Shenton College is an important way for the City to contribute positively to the community we serve, while also helping students navigate their way through their teenage years.

“With school-age children, I know how important it is to support them emotionally and I’m glad to know there are others in our community also helping out.

“It does take a village to raise a child.”

“YouthCARE chaplains work as part of the student services team to provide pastoral care to students, staff, and families. Our chaplains assist with building community within a school through one on one pastoral care and programs. We rely on the generous support of the City to help make this possible,” said Darlene Herbert, YouthCARE Chaplaincy Regional Manager.
